Support the Clan Macpherson Museum

Make a Donation to the Museum

The Museum relies on the generosity of supporters to care for its collection, maintain the building and grounds, and continue sharing the story of Clan Macpherson with the world.

Every donation plays a vital part in helping us preserve, protect, and celebrate our heritage.

There are several ways you can contribute — each supporting a different area of the Museum’s work.

Clan Macpherson Museum Trust

The Clan Macpherson Museum Trust (CMMT) is the registered Scottish charity (SC020005) responsible for the Museum’s operation and care.

Donations to the Trust help support every aspect of the Museum. In particular, they fund work such as conserving artefacts, improving displays, maintaining the building, supporting staff, and planning for the future.

Official Mission Statement

Our mission is to preserve and promote the history, folklore, literature, music and traditions of the Clan Macpherson, its ancestral homeland of Badenoch and the Scottish Highlands, by displaying the items entrusted to its care and sharing their story with local and global audiences.

The Trust was established in 1991, replacing an earlier Trust established in 1966. Its mission is to provide a Museum of standing which preserves and displays the collected items entrusted to its care. It is responsible for operating and maintaining the Clan Macpherson Museum. Income and capital from the Trust can be used for anything from repairing the roof to acquiring artefacts, cutting the grass, and paying the electric bills.

Sir William & Lady Sheila Macpherson of Cluny Museum Endowment Fund

Sir William Macpherson, 27th Chief of Clan Macpherson, established the Sheila, Lady Cluny Museum Endowment Fund in 2004 in memory of his wife.

After Sir William’s passing in 2021, his family approved the formal addition of his name, honouring their shared legacy.

This Fund supports the Museum’s long-term growth and sustainability through:

  • Professional curatorial support
  • Exhibition upgrades
  • Scholarly research
  • Student internships and attachments

The Endowment Fund is a registered Scottish charity (SC035718).
